S'mores Bars
A great s'mores treat if you don't have access to a fire! These gooey bars taste just like the real thing, but a little bit less messy.
I decided to make these at 5:45am this morning because I woke up for not reason and already had booked a gym class for tonight so no reason to go in the AM too. Also, I was supposed to go to my parents lake house for the long weekend, but Maine decided to have crappy weather, so a real fire may be out of the question. These gooey, chocolaty, marshmallow bars are my comprimise.
Servings: 8"x 8" pan Prep time: 10 minutes
Bake time: 30 minutes Total time: 40 minutes
INGREDIENTS
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons flour
- 7 graham crackers, chopped
- 1 cup mini marshmallows (or regular marshmallows, cut into quarters)
- 3 Hershey's chocolate bars. chopped
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Whisk together melted butter and egg until smooth
Step 2: Add in brown sugar and vanilla and whisk until combined, then add flour (do not over mix)
Step 3: Fold in the graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate until evenly combined.
Step 4: Prepare an 8"x 8" pan by lining it with foil and spraying with cooking spray or butter.
Step 5; Pour batter into the prepared pan and press down until flat on top. Bake for 30 minutes.
Step 5: Let cool for an hour until chilled, then remove from pan. To cut the bars, I used a large buttered knife to prevent the bars from sticking to the knife as much.
