Fiesta Turkey Burger
I first made this recipe exactly two years ago on Memorial Day Weekend and since today happens to also be National Burger Day, decided to bring it back! A classic turkey burger with a bit of a twist topped with tortilla chips, guacamole, pepper jack cheese and arugula.
Makes: 3-4 burgers Prep time: 20 minutes
INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup chopped, sauteed onions
- 1 clove garlic, sauteed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 jalapeno, diced (optional)
- Juice from 1/2 lime
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup guacamole
- Tortilla chips
- 4 slices of pepper jack cheese
- 1/2 cup arugula
- 4 brioche buns
Step 1: Mix together all the ingredients until fully combined. Form patties and set aside.
Step 2: Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat until warm. Add 1 tablespoon oil.
Step 3: Place burgers in the pan and cover. Cook on each side for approximately 5 minutes until fully cooked. Before removing them from the pan, top with cheese slices and cover for 1 more minute until melted.
Step 4: Place burger on top of bun, top with guacamole, arugula and tortilla chips.
